Taylor Hughes

This book is the Kite Runner. The pomegranate tree represents the friendship between the two main characters. The scar on the tree represents the scar in their friendschip

Wow! There were a lot of different textures involved and you captured them beautifully. I've never read the Kite Runner, but the symbolism detailed in your art expresses it clearly. My favorite element of this piece is how the background is subtle, yet detailed, and the pomegranates a vibrant enough without hogging the attention. The leaves are exceptional, especially so because you had to paint so many- my only criticism is that I believe the branches could have been more defined; they appear to be just brush strokes with leaves attached.. However, too much detail on them might have detracted from the subtle details that I like so much. Overall this is a very good piece and fits well for your theme.

i like the abstractness of your paiting. the little imperfections show that there is more to your work than is on the surface. i really like how you are trying to portray the meaning of the Kite runner in the painting

The different colors that make up the pomegranate blend together very well. I love how everything is a variety of colors instead of just one solid color.

im reading the kite runner right now!
i like the subject you chose to depict. i would have made the shading a little more blended, but i like the contrasting colors you used. they add more dimension to the overall piece. nice work!

the background color in this piece sets the mood and it goes very well with the vibrant red. the leaves look really nice also when i pay attention to the detail of that. the lighting on the fruit could have been a little neater.
